Formula
Stage I: T1-2 N0 M0 Stage II: T1-2 N1 M0 or T3 N0 M0 Stage III: T3-4 N1 M0, or any T N2-3 M0 Stage IV: any T any N M1
Key Points for NEET PG
  • NSCLC (80–85%) vs SCLC (15–20%) — staging system differs; SCLC uses limited/extensive stage
  • Stage I–II: surgery (lobectomy); Stage III: chemoradiation ± surgery; Stage IV: systemic therapy
  • N2 disease (ipsilateral mediastinal) is pivotal — converts from surgical to non-surgical management
  • Most common NSCLC: Adenocarcinoma (peripheral) > Squamous cell (central) > Large cell
  • Pancoast tumour (superior sulcus): T3–T4; presents with Horner syndrome (ptosis, miosis, anhidrosis)
